Upload files

Uploading files is only permitted via the SCP and SFTP protocols. There are dozens of clients (both free and commercial) that support these protocols. I like WinSCP on Windows and Cyberduck on Mac OS X. On UNIX environments that have Gnome or KDE, sftp clients are built into the file system browser.

The hostname you should use to log in is jlauser.net. Do not use your domain as the hostname, as you may get directed to the backup server, which clients can not log into. Your username and password will be provided when you sign up for service.

Once logged in, you can put whatever files where ever you want in your home directory. Only files put in the public_html directory will be accessible via your site, however. If you have multiple sites hosted under the same account, you will see multiple sub-directories in your public_html directory, and files should be put in the sub-directories as appropriate.

Note: If you wish to use rsync to upload files, rsync-over-ssh is supported.
